Healing With Sound

by Diáne Mandle

There are great shifts that people make when their subconscious mind and cellular memory come into alignment with their consciousness. Physical conditions are often manifestations of psychic distress on a sub-conscious level, and even when we eliminate symptoms they will return in one form or another until the core issue is resolved.

I, like many healers, believe that illness is a manifestation of dis-harmony within the body, an imbalance in the cells or a given organ, and that healing can be achieved by restoring the normal vibratory frequencies of the diseased, out-of-harmony parts of the body/mind. Vibrational healing, especially with sound, is a potent way of restoring the body to its normal frequency. The process and journey of healing is then a Spiritual Awakening that has consequences on our physical well-being. As we awaken, our perspective shifts. As our perspective shifts, our vibration shifts. As our vibration shifts, our cellular make up shifts.

Sound vibrations from the Himalayan Bowls bring us to the part of ourselves that remembers on a visceral level that we don’t need an excuse to heal because we are divine beings. Their sound helps us remember experientially who we really are, and when we ‘get’ that, when we feel ourselves to be the ‘Diamond Self,’ we know that the only way to be with self is through unconditional love and self care. (the Diamond Self is a reference to our essence, the energetic presence we came into the world with and that is and will always remain intact despite external circumstances). We know we don’t need a reason or an illness to justify complete self respecting, loving nurturing. We recognize that we have been enslaved and seduced into the illusion that we are not perfect. Sound STOPS the illusion, the mind chatter, the misconceptions, and puts us directly back into alignment with the universal flow of perfection that is our true nature. As we repeat our experience with the bowls, because we learn through repetition, we anchor ourselves in the memory of well-being until it replaces the illusion of illness.

The vibrating polytonal sound of Tibetan bowls in the hands of a well trained practitioner initiates the relaxation response and works as an internal opiate to decrease such conditions as anxiety or pain by synchronizing the brainwaves, heart and respiratory rates. Although just one session can have a strong affect on a person, it takes several sessions to make a transformative change because it takes time to transform patterns that have been there for decades.

Many of my clients arrive unconscious of the spiritual war within them between the ego and the essence The essences is screaming to ‘come out” and they are manifesting symptoms of this discord.  It is important to examine belief systems, patterns of behavior, attitudes, body language, the subtle energy body, the physical and emotional state because it is a combination of these things that contribute to how someone feels and lives. In the end, my goal is for them to reconnect in the healer within themselves and to be empowered in that role. When they begin to see their thoughts, actions and situation from a larger perspective, they can take charge and allow their inner healer to support their healing journey.

This is not to say that healing is curing. Sometimes an illness is so advanced that no cure is possible. But even then it is possible to experience the condition as a witness rather than as a victim and raise the quality of ones life for however long by experiencing oneself as much larger than their condition.
